he's so cute

We couldn't think of a title for this blog so we went literal---he's so cute.  Drew's absolute favorite toys are trucks, cars, choo-choos and anything that resembles a bulldozer.  He likes to use his imagination to put his big red truck in "time out" or come up with songs usually to the tune of "freres jacques."   He is strong-willed-- does not take "no" for an answer when demanding to drink apple juice.  But he is usually very sweet. Yesterday, he kept saying "hi mommy, hi pumpkin."  He impressively kicks around a soccer ball outside and enjoys strumming a guitar. He actually knows the last word of each line plus the chorus to "Shot in the Arm." and often when we put on music he asks, "is this Bob?"  Yes, he means Bob Dylan.  We also see Drew play a lot more with kids his age.  He now talks to his friend Lilly, usually, wanting to show her things like his toys or how he can jump off of something that he probably shouldn't be jumping off of. Two year olds can actually be terribly fun!

Florida and more

This is a long overdue post.  Half of the pictures are from our family vacation to Florida. Drew would not get out of the swimming pool. He loved the water so much and is quite the shark. His uncles were with him for part of the trip and were really helpful in teaching him to kick and jump into the pool. Drew has also been busy visiting museums this winter, going out to restaurants and all around asserting his two year old self.  He talks a lot about a lot of things including: his baby sister in "mama's belly," Benny the Bull (Drew and his dad recently went to a game), choo-choo trains are still a hot topic, Little Miss Ann his favorite musician, and daddy's ipad.

"More party"

Drew enjoyed his 2nd birthday over the weekend. Leading up to the big day he practiced singing "Happy Birthday" and blowing out candles. At his party at Pequod's he enjoyed proper Chicago-style pizza and an amazing Elmo cupcake birthday cake.  But most of all he loved the company of his family and a few close friends. When the party was over and we left to go home. Drew whined, "more party."  He soon forgot his post-birthday blues when he opened his wonderful birthday gifts.  One week later, he is still singing "Happy Birthday."
